The Battle For Your Mind!

(Ome: Hey Beloveds!

I’m here with the verses and what I caught from Pastor’s sermon last week.

Beloveds, the devil wants you focused on you, because when you are focused on yourself, you will find imperfections and failures, and it a matter of time you will end up depressed. God’s heart for you is that you are focused on Jesus. Look to Him, see Him as your identity, who you are before God, and be at rest that you are altogether pleasing to God in Him.  Know that today, God does not look at you to judge you, but at Jesus, and rest easy! Rejoice, because you are blessed because of Christ’s obedience!

Have a blessed holiday week!)

Verses from the sermon:

Romans 1:16-17

16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

2 Corinthians 10:3-6

3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Romans 5:19

19For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

Romans 10:2-4

2For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

2 Corinthians 11:2-4

2For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted–you may well put up with it!

2 Corinthians 4:2-4

2But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Matthew 6:25,31 (KJV)

25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

1 John 4:17-18

17Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Exodus 28:36-38

36“You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet: HOLINESS TO THE LORD. 37And you shall put it on a blue cord, that it may be on the turban; it shall be on the front of the turban. 38So it shall be on Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things which the children of Israel hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall always be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD.

Key take-home points:

  • Spiritual warfare doesn’t take place somewhere outside. It takes place inside your mind. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 tells us that the weapons of spiritual warfare are not carnal, that is, they are not physical weapons. These weapons don’t destroy tanks or helicopters, but they destroy strongholds inside your mind, that is, wrong believing.
  • The gospel is simple. It’s all about Jesus. Today, the mainstream Christianity has complicated the gospel by adding man to the gospel, and the gospel has become part Jesus, part man. Jesus has been taken off being the centerpiece and man has taken the spotlight. The gospel is the revelation of the righteousness of God, given as a gift to man through Jesus and His finished work, received by all faith and no work of man.
  • Today, the devil or your flesh can put thoughts in your mind and condemn you for those thoughts. You ought not to be guilty for those thoughts any more than you would be guilty for some expletive that someone else says in your presence. These thoughts can come to your mind, and you don’t have to take them. How do you take a thought? You say it. (Mat 6:25,31 KJV) The thoughts that arrive at your mind are not fully in your control, but you control what you say, and what you say is what you believe, so simply take no thought of the devil, and take God’s thoughts, thoughts of good, thoughts to give you a confidence expectation of good and a future!
  • The devil’s objective is to get you to focus on yourself. God’s heart is for you to focus on Jesus. When you focus on yourself, you will end up distressed, because if you are really honest with yourself, there will always be something about you that falls short. But when you look to Jesus, you end up at rest, peaceful and joyful, because He is always altogether lovely and altogether perfect, and there is your security. As He is, so are you in this world. As He is accepted, so are you in this world. As He is pleasing to God, so are you in this world!
