When You Touch God’s Word, You Touch Resurrection!

(Ome: Hey fruitful ones! I’m here with the sermon notes from the sermon two weeks ago by Pastor Prince. Sorry for lateness! I lost my sermon notebook, so I had to listen to the sermon again to get the verses. But good thing is I get extra feeding! Haha

This sermon is a continuation, part two if you would, from last week’s sermon, and Pastor continued to share on meditation. To me, I love it that even in areas in my life where there is death, at the touch of God’s word, there will be life once again. Self-effort won’t cut it to try to bring that dead area back to life. It’s hopeless! But when you let that area be filled with God’s word, inasmuch as Jesus Himself is the resurrection and the life, and He is the Word made flesh, and God’s word is all about Him, there will be resurrection and life flowing in that once dead area of your life to the glory of God. So Beloveds, if there are areas in your life that you are having trouble with, or even hopeless, receive God’s word for that area. What we tend to do (at least what I tend to do) is that we receive God’s word for many areas of our lives but there are some areas that we either forget to or neglect or refuse to allow God’s word to touch them, and they’re either in a bad state or dead.

Beloveds, there are no areas in your life beyond saving. If you allow God’s word to touch that area, there will be life once again. God’s word stands behind it! So receive Jesus’ resurrection and life through His word by feeding and meditating on His word, His grace, His promise, His finished work!

Blessed week, and Blessed, Prosperous Chinese New Year to you!)

Verses from the sermon:

Job 14:7-9

7“For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease. 8Though its root may grow old in the earth, And its stump may die in the ground, 9Yet at the scent of water it will bud And bring forth branches like a plant.

Colossians 1:16-17 (NIV)

16For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

1 Timothy 4:7-8,15-16

7But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. 8For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come

15Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. 16Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

1 Timothy 3:16

16And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.

Joshua 1:8

8This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Psalm 92:12-14

12The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,

Key take-home points:

  • At the smell of God’s word, even the dead part of your life will be resurrected. If you feel like there are areas in your life that are dead, areas in your life that you feel is hopeless, I am here to announce to you that there is hope. When you spend time in God’s word, even the areas in your life that are dead will be resurrected! Beloveds, Jesus is the resurrection and the life. He is hope to your hopeless situation. All that you need to do is to allow that dead area of your life to be exposed to His word, and where there is death, there will be life once again! This is year is the year of resurrection. Even dead tree can have unceasing fruitfulness!
  • Meditation is profitable in all things. Y’know, you can exercise, and it’s not that there is no profit. There is profit, but it profits a little, namely, only one area of your life: your fitness. You can exercise and be fit, but be failing in your health, or be oppressed by worries over your studies or job. You can take a course in management and be very good in managing, but be failing at home, having not a clue why you can’t manage your family. But meditation on God’s word benefits every area in your life. When you meditate on His word, whatever you do (which means everything that you do) prospers. Even your mistakes prosper!
  • When you meditate, you will prosper, and your prosperity will be seen to all. All means both believers and unbelievers. God’s prosperity and good success on you will be such that the unbelievers won’t need spiritual discernment to see them. Joseph was successful, and his heathen boss, Potiphar, could see his success! He probably saw how the other slaves warmed up to Joseph when they were under his leadership, how the crops were of obviously much better quality when Joseph took care of it, how even the cattle and the flocks responded well to Joseph. Whatever your line of work is, when you meditate, your prosperity will be obvious to all, even unbelievers will be able to see it!
  • When you meditate and share God’s word, there is salvation, freedom, and healing for you and the people who hear you. In 1 Timothy 4:15-16, Paul’s Spirit-led exhortation to Timothy, to meditate, and to share God’s word, saying that in doing so, Timothy would save himself and all who would hear him. The word “save” there isn’t just to save from hell. I mean, Paul was exhorting someone who was obviously already saved in that sense! But the word “save” there comes from the Greek word “sozo”, which is a rich word which means “to save, to heal, to deliver”. So when you meditate and share God’s word, you are saving, healing, delivering from bondage and destruction, both yourself and those who hear you! So I would like to encourage you to share what you have been meditating on. You can share with me (I think I’m quite receptive la!) or find someone to share with. Good things happen when God’s word is shared!
