Denomination – Let’s discuss a bit on this!
Hi everyone,
I don’t know if it’s appropriate but I just found a joke on denominations and I found it really funny. Cos just yesterday I was thinking to myself – What denomination does NCC belongs to?
Our pastor calls himself a charismatic, but then he also claims that some charismatic teachings can be wrong (or too far fetch). All these came to my mind when I thought of Pastor Prince being on the Charisma Magazine.
Anyway, here’s the really funny joke. Enjoy.
I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off.
So I ran over and said “Stop! Don’t do it!”
“Why shouldn’t I?” he said.
“Well, there’s so much to live for!”
“Like what?”
“Well… are you religious?”
He said yes.
I said, “Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?”
“Christian.”
“Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant ?
“Protestant.” “Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?”
“Baptist” “Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?”
“Baptist Church of God!”
“Me too! Are you original Baptist Church of God, or are you reformed Baptist Church of God?”
“Reformed Baptist Church of God!”
“Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915?”
He said, “Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915!”
I said, “Die, heretic scum”, and pushed him off.
HAHA. Hope it’s appropriate – after all, I believe God ordained humans to have a sense of humor once in a while. =)

haha, i think sometimes Christians become too complicated. we are non-denominational. our services are charismatic in that we move in the Spirit and we pray in tongues. but we are very grounded in the Word, making us very bible-presbyterian (which im sure those hard core bible presbyterians would violently disagree). pastor came from the word of faith (not sure if i should call it a … movement). but essentially, if we had to have a “denomination” we would be a Jesus church. a church centered around the finished work of Jesus, as stated by His Word and testified by His Spirit.

I love to discuss about such topics. Haha. Having visited a hundred churches, I’ve been to most of the major denominations.
Officially, NCC is non-denominational.
Loosely defined, NCC is charismatic because we believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
If we emphasize in speaking in tongues, then we are pentecostal (which is where my previous church, Glad Tidings, come from).
Because Pastor has background from the Word of Faith movement, we are kind of related to the Word of Faith people (Kenneth Hagin, Rhema Bible School, Joel Osteen etc.)
However, as compared to the other churches in the abovementioned groups, NCC is more Jesus-centered, Finished-Work-centered and Grace-centered, and as Ps calls it, the “Gospel Revolution”, preaching the “Gospel of Grace.”

ah, I see, yes, a very diverse portfolio for the Church. Haha. Why did Pastor Prince said he was from an occult background when he was young before? Was he referring to the New Age stuff like visualization etc?

That was before he was saved.

oic! Praise God! If he continue to dwell in that area, we wont have NCC!

Yeah Praise God!
By the way, since Jesus is grace personified, when people say that we are a grace church, they are basically saying that we are a Jesus church! Haha.
